If you hire the same kinds of roles again and again — say a “Sales Executive” or a “Software Engineer” — an opening template saves you re-typing the same job description, salary range, and employment type every time. A template is a reusable starting point that captures the standard details of a role so that creating the next job opening for that role is quicker and more consistent. This page covers creating, editing, and managing opening templates. You’ll find this at: /hr/recruitment/opening-templates (list), /hr/recruitment/opening-templates/new (create), /hr/recruitment/opening-templates/:id (edit)

Before you start

  • Templates are master data and are managed with the hr-recruitment:config permission (the same level used for the other recruitment masters).
  • A template can be scoped to the current business or, if created without a business in context, shared across the whole tenant. In normal use, with a business selected in the switcher, your templates belong to that business.

Creating a template

From the templates list choose New Template. The editor opens with a live preview down the right showing how the role will look.

Basic information

Compensation

Job description

A free-text description for responsibilities, qualifications, and benefits. Save with Create Template.

Editing and deleting

Open a template to edit it; the editor’s save button reads Save Changes. A Delete button (also gated by hr-recruitment:config) removes it. Deleting a template is safe with respect to history: openings already created from a template are unaffected — they keep all their own field values. The delete confirmation says as much: “Delete this opening template? Job openings already created from it are unaffected.”

Using a template

A template is a reference for the standard shape of a role: title, employment type, location, currency, salary band, per-period, and description.
⚠️ Current state: The “create an opening from this template” one-click prefill is not wired into the create-opening form yet. The capability exists behind the scenes, but in the app today the New Opening form does not pull values from a template automatically. In practice, treat templates as a curated reference library — open the template to see the agreed wording and figures, then enter them on the new opening. (Flagged for the team.)
